How to Post a Buyer Request and Let Sellers Come to You
Looking for a specific product, or need a service done — a plumber, a photographer, a tutor? Instead of searching listings and hoping to find a match, you can post a buyer request describing exactly what you need and your budget. Sellers and service providers who can fulfill it send you offers directly.
1. Describe exactly what you need
Write the request the way you'd describe it to a person, not a search box. "Need a 10kWh lithium battery, must include installation" gets far better offers than "battery needed." For services, include the scope: "2-bedroom apartment deep clean, including kitchen and bathrooms" tells a cleaning service exactly what they're quoting on.
2. Set a real budget
A budget isn't just information for you — it's the signal sellers use to decide whether responding is worth their time. Too vague or unrealistically low, and serious sellers skip past it. A specific, reasonable number attracts offers that are actually worth comparing.
3. Pick the right category and city
Your request is only shown to relevant sellers browsing that category, and to sellers who've set their coverage to include your city — so an accurate category and city are what actually gets your request seen by the right people.
4. Set a timeframe (and a deadline, if it's urgent)
Let sellers know if you need this today, this week, or you're just planning ahead. If you want to compare all offers at once rather than accepting the first reasonable one, set an offer deadline — this also shows a countdown to anyone considering an offer, which tends to encourage faster responses.
5. Compare offers and pick one
Every offer on your request is submitted privately — sellers can't see each other's numbers, only their own (see how sealed-bid offers work). You see every offer ranked by how close it is to your budget, along with the seller's rating and verification status, and you choose which one to accept. Nobody is ever added automatically.
